First off, I was looking in old photos that we have that we are thinking about putting onto a DVD for keeping. Family pictures, my sons growing up extra. I ran across a couple of pictures of myself that I had to sit down and really look at.
Did I really look that bad? Ok picture this anyone over the age of 40 should really remember this. The 80’s style glasses and the tent dresses. Ok got that image in your mind now? Remember just how BIG those all were? Now picture someone 5 foot 6 inches high weighting in about 222. Scary thought though? Well that was me! Short hair, in a tent dress with big 80’s style glasses.
Now today, I am still 5 feet 6 inches high, only my glasses have gotten smaller and well I now weigh in at 145 pounds. BIG difference huh? And my hair is much longer. NOW the reason why this really blows my mind is this.
We have a friend that came to visit us and the first words out of his mouth was WOW you look amazing!! Then he saw a picture of my husband and I that we had done the last time in Vegas (two years ago) and he turned to me and he said ” You are one of the first that has actually gotten prettier as you have gotten older”.
Till I found those ugly pictures of me I had no idea what he was talking about. I had to show him two of the pictures and he remembered me at my heaviest. If you have ever been really heavy and now lost the weight and see an old friend that hasn’t see you since you were heavy, isn’t that the most amazing self-confidence builder ever? I think at what it took to me where I am now, you see it in my face, and in my body.
Now for a few weight loss tips that worked for me that I know will work for you:
1~No matter what you eat, no matter the size of the plate the food is on, for about a month or so, only eat HALF of whats on the plate. Doesn’t matter it is, or even the size of the plate is what you give a child, only eat HALF! You will find by doing this, that your desire to eat will become less.
2~Don’t stress if you feel you are not doing what you want in weight loss, it comes with time. If you are upset about your weight then do something about, don’t just piss and bitch about it.
3~Buy something as a gift to yourself if you drop X number of pounds and keep it off for more than a week, give yourself the gift. Take it away if you gain those X number back.
(I have a gucci bag that was my gift to myself, you think I don’ want to use it? Weight will stay off)
4~Look at your body, how you eat and decide for yourself what looks good on you. Sometimes weight is nothing but a number, you can weight 125 and look super thin when the number you really wanted was 115. You can’t change everything mother nature gave you, it won’t be you if you did.
5~Cut out sodas! And that means diet ones too. Look at the amount of sugar you find in a can of soda, and think .. dinner or soda?
6~Talk with your doctor about your weight loss goals and she will be able to help you get to where you need to be.
7~Try cutting out red meat, all red meat and see how it makes your body feel. I haven’t had red meat in years and I quit feeling like a lazy and sick when I did., (I can’t eat the cow or anything from the cow) Try cutting now on the amount of cheese you eat as well. If you eat a lots of it.
8~Weight loss is a life change its not a diet you go on and off on. I went to get a new outfit and was able to wear for the first time in years a size 8 skirt and size 10 jeans. You think I am not interested in staying this size forever?
9~Eat your veggies
I guess what I should do is show you the picture but I don’t think I want that fat image all over the web just yet. I may get brave enough to do so. LOL
