I got a good friend who owns a Laguna Hair Salon here in Elk Grove, CA my home town. (has a booth to rent if interested please email me) Anyway I have a glass case I get to put some of the products I offer on my website in there for sale. Great view from the front door. Ok I don’t get my hair done there because my hair stylist is now at a very high end salon but when he first started out it was at this Hair Salon years ago. Most of those who become Hair Stylists start out at Hair Salons that are cheaper in cost because they are fresh out of school and are perfecting their style of hair.
My friend Denise also does massages so I was waiting for her to finish and I was listening to one of her hair dressers. Give me a minute and I will tell you why I call her that. I won’t say her name cause she is renting the booth and Denise has no control over what this woman does. There was a woman who must be a regular of this hair dresser and as I was listening they were talking about highlights that had gone brassy?? And the fact that when you have all over color done, you will get color at the hairline that goes away after a washing or two. Oh wow I didn’t say anything but I was sure that no matter what your blond highlights should never go brassy after a few washing unless.. but I wasn’t sure..so I was getting red highlights in my naturally too white blond hair the next day, so I just sat on my questions about what I had heard.
The next day I went to get my hair trimmed and red highlights put in, I had a few questions for Joe. Now this guy knows his hair business!! I took into him The U faKtor shampoo and conditioner I got samples of as well as the Body Balm. When it comes to hair products and their ingredients he can tell you the chemical name and whats in a hair product that you might be reacting too. He loved what The U faKtor did for my hair and told me right away by looking at the ingredients what it was that was making my hair softer and more touchable soft. I had not been able to get to see him because of work and my hair was at that time were you want to trim the ends etc. But because I started using The U faKtor and was no longer using Paul Brown shampoo/conditioner my hair was actually in better shape then it had been.
Now Joe is a Hair Stylist! He is Vidal Sasson trained and goes to classes all the time to keep his knowledge up to date on all the trends, new products and new styles. He talks with you till he has a good understanding of what you want, you hair is trimmed and styled in ways that you can do yourself and you hair style works with the shape of your head and face. I been seeing him for three years or more and would die if he ever lefted the hair business, yes I am that loyal! (If you are looking for a better hair stylist, email me and I will give you Joe’s place of business)
So while I was getting my hair done I had to ask him my questions.
First Question was if you get your hair all over color, why would you get color on your forehead and around your hairline? Answer sloppy work! Ok why? Because as you are doing the color you should have cotton around the hairline and make sure while you are applying the color that it doesn’t happen. If it does you remove it right a way. But basically its sloppy work.
Question two, and brassy highlights? Answer its a cover up for bad workmanship. There are three basic prime colors that go into creating the color that will be used in doing your hair. Blue, Red and Yellow. Take away the blue you get Red and yellow in this case Orange. The color wasn’t created correctly and when it was applied to the hair it wasn’t process correctly. You should never get orange (brassy) highlights if they are done correctly. I told him the hair dressers answer was because the base color was so dark, that the blond didn’t take right and you got brassy highlights from it. And it happens all the time in this case. OH you don’t want to know what he thought of that, this is a G rated blog!!
My question to you is, who is taking care of your hair? Do you have a Hair Stylist which cost more, or a Hair Dresser who works for your local Super Cuts? Are you really getting what you pay for?
Do you know that you are judged by your hair and your makeup? But your hair is one of the first things that is seen when someone talks with you? Why you think there are so many ads now for graying hair on men? Think about the next time you go into get your hair done, or you see someone who’s got brassy highlights, you know now that she had sloppy work done and doesn’t even know. Who do you trust your hair with?
