I got asked a question about cake eyeliner and eyeliner sealant. What she wanted to know is, would cake eyeliner with an eyeliner sealant cause her eyes to hurt or burn? It seems she has had trouble in the past and wanted to be sure before she ordered Ella Blue Cake Eyeliner that it wasn’t going to cause her eyes to react. Having sensitive eyes myself, I totally understand! Personally I have found cake eyeliners work better for me than pencils, I hate putting on my makeup in the morning only to see part way through my day, my eyeliner has disappeared!
I asked two people I know very well about cake eyeliners and eyeliner sealants. Serjame who happens to be a makeup artist in LA and one of the coolest guys I know and Julie owner of Ella Blue who’s products I am now offering on OverallBeauty.com
This is my answer to her question:
On the eyeliner, in fact I bought one for myself to try out. I have sensitive eyes and had a problem with pencils not staying put. The cake eyeliner I got was the Navy, and nope its not bright at all. In fact it looks really good on my eyes, I have blue eyes. It stays put and didn’t affect my eyes.

When I asked about it, I was told that they have not had anyone have any problem with it. When I asked about the eyeliner sealant, Julie (owner of Ella Blue) asked me what you might be using. The reason being it maybe the eyeliner sealant that is affecting your eyes. This one being cake doesn’t need it. It goes on with water and stays put till you remove it. It is also pretty much waterproof. I wear eyeliner at the base of my lashes and I need a waterproof one, and this works for that.
Also when applying cake eyeliner it helps to be using the correct makeup brush. The best one on the market is Mini Chisel Makeup Brush by Ella Blue. The reason its its small and you only need to wet the brush NOT the eyeliner to get the correct amount to apply onto your eyelids.

What to use instead of a eyeliner sealant. If you were to use powder instead of cake. If you are using mineral eyeshadow as your eyeliner here is a great tip from a makeup artist.
Now this is from my makeup artist friend Serjame: He has been a makeup artist for over 20 years in Hollywood. If anyone would know what to do he would!
Liquid Eye Liner: (Wet-Lining) Place a small amount of powder into a lid or swirl bowl. Using a moistened liner brush (Like Aloe Vera juice or Aloe Vera gel which is like a sealant), dip the tip into loose powder. Using your lid or the back of your hand, mix the powder and liquid together to create a smooth consistency. Working swiftly, carefully apply to upper and/or lower lids starting as close to the lashes as possible. Don’t line the inner area of the eye it can cause irritation!
Also here is the problem you may be having:
Here are some facts for you! Most sealants have the ingredients below:
Ingredients: Water, Propylene Glycol, Polysorbate 80, Methylparaben, Imadazolydinyl Urea, Cellulose Gum. These products burn if gotten inside of the eye!
Some brands use more cellulose Gum thus they flake, some people add Visine drops to stop the flaking. Not everyone can use Visine however! Serjame and Julie of Ella Blue who is also a makeup both agree that its not the cake eyeliner that was causing the problem it was probably the eyeliner sealant.
I also know where to get the eyeliner sealant if you need it as well.
I hope I have answered your questions for you, and it was fun trying to find this all out for you. When I told Julie (Ella Blue) why I was asking about the cake eyeliner, I told her I had someone who was looking for information so when she ordered she didn’t make a mistake. She said you were very smart to do it this way..I agree, anyone who is not sure about a product that they want to order off OverallBeauty.com ask me first! I don’t mind answering questions because I want the best for you and your makeup needs.
I love being able to answer questions like this. Makeup should be fun and make you feel pretty not cause your eyes to water, your face to break out or your lips crack. If these things are happening its probably because of an ingredient that your body is telling isn’t good for it.

Technorati rocks!

I find that a great set of brushes makes a world of difference in makeup application.
I use this set: http://www.salonhive.com/23-pc-black-handle-makeup-brush-set-w-pouch-ts-202.html
They are so soft and there is literally a brush for everything. I also like how the pouch keeps everything clean and organized.
