I was contacted by OSEA Malibu about doing a review for their skincare products. Their main ingredient that they use is seaweed. I thought it would be fun and said sure! I understand from doing research on my own that seaweed is very beneficial for your skin, it can replace minerals missing in your diet. It was been used for 100’s of years as an ingredient to help Kings and Queens look younger and in fact many use it in their baths, as body wraps to make them thinner as well as gave it as sacrificial offerings to their gods. Yeah I know that was your history lesson for the day..
OSEA Malibu was kind enough to send me over two products for review. Their ‘Sea Minerals‘ which is a facial spray (comes in a green glass bottle) and one of their brand new products ‘Organic Undaria Body Polish’

About Sea Minerals from their site:
Swimming in nutrients from the ocean, Sea Mineral facial mist feels as cool and refreshing as it looks. By delivering healing nutrients and antioxidants directly to the skin, Sea Minerals promotes the skin’s natural ability to absorb moisture and oxygenate. Hawaiian seaweed extracts and Dead Sea Crystals combine with amino acids to provide therapeutic mineral treatment and help in the healing of various skin conditions. Natures perfect hydrator, Sea Minerals is the ideal delivery system to restore mineral balance to sun-exposed skin and reduce redness and tightness. A quick spritz helps seal makeup against humidity. Store in fridge for a refreshing after-sun elixir!
Ingredients:
100% Natural Derived Ingredients. Water, Dead Sea Crystals, Algae Extract, Saccharomyces/Copper Ferment & Saccharomyces/Manganese Ferment & Saccharomyces/Zinc Ferment, Chondrus Crispus, Aloe Vera Juice, Glycerin, Citrus Grandis Seed Extract, Citric Acid, Natural Chlorophyll, Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate, Glycine.
On the Sea Minerals I wasn’t to sure about, so I asked a few questions about it:
One thing I was wondering about is when can you use it? So I asked Jenefer Palmer their Chief Seaweed Officer my questions and here are her answers. I found it very interesting and I learned a lot about using Sea Minerals
Question one: Do you spray it anytime of the day? Yes, it is a nice little pick-me-up. A while back, W Magazine reported that RuPaul used it to set his makeup – as a result of that we got a lot of new transvestite customers using it to set their foundation.
Question two:Do you spray it will it set your foundation or cause it to run? We have had women from Texas call us and say “it is 99 degrees outside with 99% humidity and the Sea Minerals stops my makeup from running down my face”.
Question three: I spray it and it smells like salt to me why would that be? You are smelling some of the dead sea salts and most likely the mineral peptides. (more information in the later about the mineral peptides)
Question four: Do you spray it before you apply your moisturizer? You can spray before your moisturizer and after. I like spraying before moisturizing because you will need less moisturizer and it will spread better. > on that she was very correct indeed!! I tried it before my moisturizer, during the day as a pick me up, and even on my husband’s face. Only on one side, his face was indeed softer on side for a while. Thought that was cool as well.
Overall a very interesting product, and worth checking out.
Price for the Sea Minerals 4oz $24.00
On to the next product I got to test out..
My favorite products of all time are body scrubs and body polishes..

From their site about Undaria Body Polish:
Undaria Body Polish gently exfoliates your pores with a blend of acai, rice powder and pumice. The intoxicating scent of this luxurious seaweed based body polish transports you to another place. The uplifting blend of organic melissa, lemon grass and Bulgarian lavender is positively addictive.
Key Ingredient: Certified organic undaria (wakame)
This edible seaweed from the pure waters of Patagonia, is rich in sodium, iron, potassium, calcium and vitamins B1, B2, B3, B6 and B12. Undaria prevents the breakdown of hyaluronic acid in the body, which is necessary to keep skin smooth and firm. Without hyaluronic acid, elastin and collagen lose their ‘glue’ and skin sags and wrinkles.
How does it work?
Natural exfoliants feel gentle on the skin while delivering a stimulating scrub action. Small and powerful pumice grains help remove dead cells along with a bio-scrub blend of acai and guaraná. Guaraná is recognized for it’s tonifying and astringent properties, as well as reducing cellulite. Acai delivers a powerful synergy of anti-aging properties to skin, plus hemp and passion fruit seed oils feed the skin Omega 3-6-9 essential fatty acids.
At-home use is easy and recommended for all skin types. Apply the polish during a warm shower and remove with a wet washcloth avoiding the face area. Use two-to-three times weekly.
Exfoliates and softens your skin like no other.
100% Natural Derived Ingredients: Aqua, *Sorbitan Olivate, *Glycerin, Pumice, *Undaria Pinnatifida Extract, *Cannabis Sativa (Hemp) Seed Oil, *Lavendula Angustilfolia (Lavender) Oil, *Chlorella Extract, Glyceryl Stearate, *Gigartina Skottsbergii Extract, *Euterpe Oleracea (Acai) Presscake Powder, *Paullinia Cupana (Guarana) Seed Powder, Conchilla Powder, Wine Extract, *Macrocystis Pyrifera Extract, *Lessonia Nigrescens, *Salicornia Europaea, *Oryza Sativa (Rice) Powder, *Passiflora Edulis (Passion Fruit) Seed Oil, *Oriza Sativa (Rice Bran) Oil, *Euterpe Oleracea (Acai) Pulp Oil, *Orbignya Oleifera (Babassu) Seed Oil, *Melissa Officinalis (Lemon Balm) Oil, Lonicera Caprifolium (Honeysuckle) Flower Extract, Lonicera Japanica (Honeysuckle) Flower Extract, Guar Gum, Xanthan Gum, Citric Acid, Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate *Certified Organic Ingredient
Don’t know if you have ever used a product with seaweed in it before but be ready for a surprise! I have and some of them smelled like the bottom of a pond, not this one!! Not only does it smell totally yummy it make my skin baby soft for days. I mean it too! The directions say use it only two to three times a week. I can see why! Even the next day without applying body lotion you could still feel my skin soft as it was the day before and not dry. LOVE IT!!
IN case you didn’t know there is a difference between scrubs and polishes. Often they are thought of as the same thing but they are not.
So what is the difference between a scrub and a polish? Body polishes and scrubs, while they may not seem like, are two different treatments. A body scrub will exfoliate the skin as well as cleanse the skin at the same time. A body scrub treatment can be done at home as well. A body polish is designed to removed dead skin cells and moisturize, much like a body scrub, however, a body polish is not designed to clean. You will find body polishes in spas and they are often used as a precursor to other treatments such as a seaweed or mud wrap.

Hmm, I would like to win … the Salts of Earth body scrub.
I have been a fan of Osea for many years. Their products are consistently excellent and the customer service is amazing. My favorite product is the Advanced Protection Cream. It was hard to sell me on $98 for night cream, but it lasts forever and I have definitely noticed my skin is tauter and younger-looking. I would love to win another jar, because it lasts about a year!
I just LOVE OSEA. For oily skin their products are truely outstanding. I have not had any breakouts and my skin is not oily. For the Undaria Body Polish is so wonderful its a scrub and moisturizer all in one. It does not leave the skin greasy or oily feeling, it a wonderful feeling. After using it you really don’t need to relotion that is how soft your skin feels. The vitamin sea serum is great for making the wrinkles less noticeable and keeps the tan on the face longer..I would recomend osea to anyone its that wonderful..

Hi Kim! How interesting – I have tried some products such as masques with seaweed that have a strong uneasy scent but they do such a good job revitalizing my skin that I bear with it, I’m interested that they smell yummy while they’re doing such a great job!
