This came across my desk the other day, its a monthly sample box by Beauty Box 5.

(This is how it came too) The box is small, without extra stuff, just a card that told me what brands are being offered in that month’s box along with what they would cost full size.
What you do is you sign up and you receive 4-5 monthly samples a month. And they aren’t just brands that you have never heard of, a few are bigger names. I got samples of what I think are neat brands, with only one I have never heard of. Reason for that was simple too..
I don’t have curly hair so I do not have a need for products for curly hair.

First item was:
Blinc mascara – this mascara is just fun to wear
What they say about it:
Its a no-hassle, no-smudge, water-resistant mascara that you don’t have to re-apply! Great for those with sensitive eyes and contact-wearers, this non-irritating mascara actually creates tubes around your lashes that will even wear through a workout!
Curls brand gel/shine serum is a brand I have never heard of. Again I do not have curly hair is the probably the main reason. It retails for $25.00 Funny this is, the company is in my home town! And been around for 10 years!
What they say about it:
Curl Gel-les’c – Curl Serum/Gel for FINE and MEDIUM curly hair textures.
It isn’t a gel, and not quite a serum it’s Curl Gel-les’c (pronounced Curl Jealousy). This botanically based, organic curl styler imparts brilliant sheen, banishes frizz, and holds those twirls in place! Great for humid climates. Transform dry frizzy locks into the enviable curls that every woman dreams of, with Curl Gel-les’c. Go ahead, your curls deserve it!
The next item was:
Makeup Primer by Bodyography – Full size Veil Foundation Primer and run you about $30.00 So being able to get a sample helps with the decision if to get the full size or not. Makeup primers overall can be a great idea, just depends on how much foundation you happen to wear. I love eye shadow primers myself..
What they say about it:
You have to love a product with so many great benefits! This multi-purpose foundation primer (which is packed with anti-oxidants and vitamins) extends the wear of foundation, fills in fine lines and pores, helps prevent collagen breakdown AND aids in the evening out of skin tone! After applying moisturizer and/or SPF, apply about a pea-sized amount of primer (with fingers) to the areas you intend to apply foundation. (If your skin feels unusually oily later in the day then you’re probably using too much).
Now this little item was fun to use!! And so easy too..
Spongeables ped-scrub Foot Buffer > This is amazing! So easy to use too. Its a foot buffer with a soft side to cleanser your feet and moisturize them. The other side is scruffy to exfoliate and massage. And its fits in the size of your hand. Should last you about 5 times and runs $2.99 in the store.
Now here is a little extra information for you:
They have different setups for payment, per month $12.00, Quarterly its $30.00 and Yearly its $100. Sign up for a year and save yourself $44.00
Get 5 of your friends to sign up, and you get a month free!
Visit http://Beautybox5.com to see if its something that you might find interesting. With so many of these monthly sample boxes turning up, its fun to see which one are the better ones. And the most cost affected for the items you receive.
Do you like monthly sample boxes that are all sample sizes, or ones that have one single item full size? I was just wondering..

I am/was a member to 3 different boxes. I love Birchbox, for $10 you seem to get good variety and usually a full sized item(I think I enjoy this one the best). I was a member of Look Store, but they’ve gone under as of last month(theirs was worth the $10), and NewBeauty Test Tube (through QVC) Quarterly boxes $40, kind of same pricing scale, but not worth it to me. Probably because it’s the QVC one, no variety, same brands every quarter, and not really worth the cost, and no surprise in repeat items/brands. I may switch to NewBeauty Test Tube from their website. Overall, I prefer the $10/month boxes, and I love getting a full size in with the sample sizes (especially a useable item like lipstick or eyeshadow or liner). There are a lot of them out there, even one where you pick your samples to be sent(beauty army), so that would work for people who don’t like the surprise.
I haven’t tested out the Birchbox, I have heard lots about it though. I used to get the NewBeauty Test Tube before they stopped offering them. I see that they have started back doing it again. I had gotten a full tube of Peter Roth eye serum in a NewBeauty Test Tube!! I paid $29.99 to get them but I am sure the price has changed.
I think when it comes to boxes per month that it really depends on what they are offering. If its just the same brand (Julepbox) then I would get bored, if its all natural products (greengrabbag) then yeah it would be something worth it for me. I had not heard of Beauty Army before.. but with so many out there it is hard to keep track of who is doing them these days. Thanks for stopping by and leaving your thoughts about them..
