It seems that there are some really neat beauty bloggers out there that just love their nail polish! One very nice young lady has even let me use her images to show off the true coolest of BB nail polish! I didn’t even have one of the colors she did a review on even on the website yet! Now there are 4 new colors added and updated images of some of the colors as well.

I have been asked quite a few times what color nail polish do I wear with a black dress? What color nail polish with a brown dress? Black-tie event? First date even? So I went to talk to one of my favorite nail techs over at Ella Blue here in Elk Grove to ask her opinion on colors of nail polish to that goes with what color dress.

Susan said that with a black dress or black tie event where you are wearing a black dress, red nail polish will always do well. Colors such as

Hot Candy Apple by BB Couture

Hot Candy Apple by BB Couture or Hot Salsa are good choices of reds. What you don’t want to be wearing are colors such as blues or greens. They take away from your overall look. Or you could always have a French Manicure done, that look is great for all colors of dresses.

Now if you are wearing a brown dress to a event that’s a little harder to choose. You will want a nail polish color that’s more of a orange look to it. Colors such as Pale Poppy by BB Couture is a good choice or  Great Balls of Fire from the Flashback to the 50’s Collection by BB Couture is also a great choice. And again a French Manicure with your basic white tips is always a good choice as well. You also try a red that is like a blue red not a true red as your choice of nail polish. I wasn’t sure what she meant by a blue red so I can’t show you a color nail polish that would work for that.

First date was a interesting question. What color nail polish works on a first date? That is a highly personal question because it depends more on what type of person you want to show yourself as. Fun loving? Dragon’s Breath by BB Couture which happens to be our best selling nail polish to date is a great color for a first date. Specially this time of year. You can’t go wrong with a deep rich purple nail polish that any skin-tone could wear.

More of a quiet person? Again a French Manicure is a good idea. If you enjoy wearing pink nail polish then wear it on your first date! Pink shows you are a caring person with a love for life and not hard core. The better choices are not to go wild and wear nail polish colors that don’t

A~ go with your outfit or

B~ are chipped and need to be redone.

Remove your nail polish if your polish happens to be chipped because it shows you don’t care enough about how your hands look not to have your nails done. It’s better to go without nail polish than it is to have chipped nail polish specially dark colors. If you want your nail polish to stay chip-free longer you need to wear Top Rock by BB Couture! It really rocks because I have tested it out on Dragon’s Breath and my nails remained chip-free for about a week! Can your top coat do the same?

All these nail polishes would be great gift ideas as well. Nail polish gifts are great because they work all year around and why give a gift that they won’t use? Who doesn’t love nail polish?

BB Couture Nail Polish Dragon's Breath

No matter what, nail polish does chip. Often when you are wearing dark nail polish does the chips really become very noticeable.  Sometimes you will see a actor with chipped nail polish and that just looks tacky. They say to wear light colored nail polish is chipping is a major problem for you and you don’t have to the time to change it all the time.

Why does nail polish chip? There are a number of reasons why your nail polish will chip, either its because when it was applied it was applied too heavy, or without a base coat and top coat. It happens also if your nails are really dry and flaky for other reasons besides the fact you are wearing nail polish. Another problem could be as simple as when you gotten a manicure done, the oils or lotions that were used on your nails, will cause your nail polish not stick to your fingernails.  But no matter what even the most expertly applied nail polish will become chipped from general wear and tear and you will need to take the time to repair it.

But how does one repair chipped nail polish? Before you start getting out your nail polisher remover be careful because you want to remove the chipped polish off one nail not all nails. But if your nail polish is chipped on more than 2  fingernails you might just want to remove it and redo all your nails.

To fix your chipped nail polish try this: use a medium weight buffer, smooth over the chipped area. When you are painting over the chipped area, just ‘dab’ it on lightly with the brush. Let it dry ‘touch-dry’ and then paint over the whole nail. The reapply your Top Coat over the nail after the polish has dried. Top Coat by BB Couture helps hold your dark nail polish on even longer! I was having a chat with Cindy owner of BB Couture, I offer her BB Nail Polish as well as her Organic Massage Candles. I was asking if she has anything coming out soon, well she does! Two brand new scents for her organic massage candles! Now you don’t have to use these candles for massaging, they are great smelling just burning in your home or office.

Well its not really a sneak peek, what it is, I was talking with Cindy about her newest collection of BB Couture Nail Polish coming out in the spring. What I got told was, remember that contest I had earlier this year? Name This Polish? WELL what Cindy is working on right now is the rest of the  nail polish colors names that will be in the spring time collection with Blue Bayou. We got so many cool names for that blue that it was hard to pick but we could only pick one.What is so awesome about this, we here at Overall Beauty got to name it! Its was great have so many people offer up the names that they felt would work for it. What I have heard is her newest collection of colors are going to be pastels cause wintertime is the best time for dark nail polish. I will keep you up to date on when she has the springtime collection ready. I always look forward to seeing her newest colors. (I get to see them before they come out for sale) BB Couture Nail Polish just seems to stay on longer and it doesn’t stain my nails when I wear her darker colors. Still have to say my favorite dark color (as I look at my nails) has got to be #71 Dragon’s Breath. Ever wore a dark nail polish with glitter in it and when you remove the polish to change the color the glitter seems to be the hardest thing to remove? With Dragon’s Breath which has 3 different colors of glitter in it, doesn’t have that problem. Has anyone ever had the problem before? Wearing a nail polish with glitter in it and takes longer to remove the glitter than it did the color it was in? Just curious…

Ok Ok so I have never worn dark nail polish before! In fact it kind of scared me, yeah me! Till my buddy Cindy owner of BB Couture Nail Polish decided that me being scared of dark nail polish just had to be stopped! She sends me two boxes of nail polish she is offering, one box the colors of the Juke Box Collection and one box of colors she hasn’t even released yet!

Me being the curious type had to see what colors were coming out, (in Nov. btw) and there is the purple in there I had to play with. Now I have something else of hers that I will be adding to the site as soon as I take a picture of it called “EXTREME ROCK” which has a story all to itself. This purple I had to try is because I have never seen such a color before..  It comes with glitter in it. I tried it on and when wow what a purple! Its a royal purple with two colors of glitter in in. So I had to call Cindy and asked her what the name of this color is going to be.. I was thinking Wicked Step Mother… I was told its going to be called Dragon’s Breath cause they wanted to stay away from other fairy tale stores. BUT she told me if I had called two weeks before than I might of named it!

I went to the NailPro show over the weekend and guess who I got to meet in person?? Cindy!!  (She gave me a VIP Ticket!) It was so awesome to finally put a face to the voice I been hearing on the phone for the past 3 years. The NailPro Show was as cool as always I got the goody bag again cause I was there in time.. The first 200 got in their bags a Top Rock by BB Couture and so gets one??? ME! In the cutest pink bag with a card showing off the newest colors out right now, not Dragon’s Breath but the Jukebox Collection which are really dark as well. Its that time of year again… Dark rules!! I have to take my dark polish off tonight cause I got to go somewhere tomorrow that doesn’t want to see dark polish on my nails.. brats! Thats ok.. it will be back! When it comes time to wear a dress, it usually means we are off to some formal occasion, got our selfs a hot date or whatever. You have this amazing dress, but your nails are bare looking. Do you match your lipstick and your nail polish on your fingernails and toes or what? Years ago when woman wore dresses all the time, the thing to do was match your eye shadow, lipstick and nail polish if they wore any. Nail polish once thought of as someone “those other women wore” nothing a good upstanding woman would ever think of wearing. Thank goodness that has changed! Today there are so many colors of nail polish that it can be a bit unnerving trying to decide what goes with what or if you should wear one color for everything.

Do you plan what you are going to wear? Most of us with a hot date start planning what to wear from the minute he asked me out. Depending on the guy depends on what I am going to be wearing. First dates are always the hardest to plan what to wear. If you are going to be wearing jeans then any color of nail polish will work. Now if you are going to be wearing a dress for him on your first date then you really need to plan the whole look you want him to see you as.

If you are wearing a black dress, with your eyes done up smoky, then you will probably want to wear a dark color nail polish. If you did your eyes smoky in colors other than black and brown, say plum instead then you might want to wear a color such as deep burgundy or burnt brown to off set the colors you are wearing.

Now for all you pink nail polish wearers, when it comes to dressing up, you should wear a darker pink polish. It will make you look a littler classer and thats one of the reasons we wear a dress to something now. With most of us not even getting out of our jeans for dates, wearing a dress is like playing grown up, and who wants to do that?

What ever you do , don’t do the whole matching thing, if you are wearing deep rich red polish on your nails, do wear it on your toes because you look more put together but don’t match your lipstick to it! Besides if you are wearing smoky eyes you know that your lips much be almost bare in color to make sure that your eyes is all he sees.

This is really silly but I had no idea that fish scales are what makes the glitter in your nail polish! I sell nail polish on my site so I should know something as important as the fact. There are many of you out there that don’t believe in harming any animals and that means fish as well. So if you want to wear nail polish that has that pretty shine to it or glitter but you really read the ingredients and wow there it is…fish scales. Not good.

I was talking with Cindy (owner of BB Couture Nail Polish) and I asked her about whats this about fish scales? It seems its easier to use that then to come up with a product or ingredient that is totally animal free. Oh ok I got that.. I am a fish eater but I could I totally believe in not harming animals for beauty gains. Thats wrong and I try to have products on my site that don’t harm anything. Well Cindy told me that she has a list of nail polishes she offers now that do not have fish scales in them and will be only making nail polish free of fish scales.. That will be able to be called vegan.. Awesome huh?

Now just because it does have fish scales in it doesn’t mean its all bad or something. I am just letting you know that there are big name brands out there that do and they aren’t saying anything about it. I can say there are a few smaller nail polish companies that have taken it among themselves not to use fish scales.

Another brand that I don’t happen to offer and wish I could is Sparitual and you can find that at Sparitual.com and they offer all types of good stuff that is vegan. If that is something you are looking for. I am looking at the back on my Nailpro mag and see their ad.

It says “Vegan Multipurpose Spa Products For Body, Hands, Feet and Nails” What I know about vegan is they do not even use bee by products like honey or eggs from chickens because its still thought of as part of the animal. You know you have really got to be able to stand by what you believe to be willing to do that. Good for you!! In the long run it all about what you believe. If you feel that it doesn’t matter that your nail polish may have fish scales it in, thats ok if you believe that it must be without, good for you to.

There is enough room in this world for everyone who believes, at least be willing to stand by what you believe and don’t be a slave to something not necessary. Beauty comes with responsibility at times you need to think of what it does to the earth as well as what it does for those who can not talk for themselves. Unless you’re my guinea pig and she talks all the time!! (gift from my youngest when he moved out she became mine) LOL
