I’m doing something a little different today. My sister got me involved in a project called Iraqi Bundles of Love. Where you can send boxes of yarn, buttons, sewing stuff to Art in Iraq who in turn is going to be giving all this boxes to the women of Iraq. So I had yarn! I also went to visit my favorite yarn shoppe here in town and got even more yarn!!
This is what I did:
My mom came up with this great idea of why not spacebag it?? This way you get two boxes of stuff into one box.
Sounds like fun! So while I was getting everything together I took pictures so my mom could see what I did and even if it was possible.
First pictures here is everything I wanted to put into my box..
Test one:
So I still had not taken the air out of the Spacebag and I didn’t have everything in my Spacebag yet.
I finally got all the yarn I wanted to send into my box. I didn’t Spacebag the buttons, just the yarn. Now I don’t have pictures of the pillowcase I put the everything into just what the Spacebag looked after I got all the air out of my Spacebag. My son’s who was busy trying to run out the door had to help me close up my box..
I was able to get all the yarn I wanted to send as well as buttons and I found some crochet hooks that needed a new home as well.
This all started with items that you sew with, needles, pins, things like that. What Art underestimated what women will do to help other women in need. Everything needs to be in the mail by September 7th, 2009.
Check out Iraqi Bundles of Love.. Help out if you can. Tweet about it, Facebook share with all your friends. This my friends is a cause that has taken off like Art would of never dreamed of!!

Honestly, I think the IBOL Kitteh stuff is the funniest part of this
project: http://ibol.wordpress.com/tag/ibol-kitteh/
I had so much fun putting my box together knowing that everything that goes in my box goes from me, to Iraq, to the Army then into the hands of women who can use it. There is no middle man in Iraq who will keep it for themselves, this goes into the hands of women.
That’s what I did this weekend.. what are you doing to Pay It Forward?
