Coming soon is that all out couples day, Valentine’s Day! Flowers and chocolates for everyone! Ok, so not for you if you are single this time around. Valentine’s Day is a day that is meant to be celebrated with someone you love. Although, if you don’t have a significant other, that doesn’t mean you can’t celebrate the day. In fact, being single on Valentine’s Day has its own set of perks.
Here are just a few reasons why being single on Valentine’s Day is the best:
1. You’re not tied down to one person.
Being in a relationship can be great, but it also means that you’re committed to that one person. You can’t go out and date other people or flirt with anyone else. When you’re single, you’re free to do whatever you want. You can go out and meet new people, or you can stay at home and curl up with a good book. You don’t have to answer to anyone but yourself, and that’s a really great feeling.
2. You don’t have to spend money on a significant other.
Valentine’s Day can be a really expensive holiday, especially if you’re in a relationship. Look at all the money you are saving! You don’t have to buy presents, flowers, and or make reservations for a nice dinner. When you’re single, you don’t have to worry about any of that. You can save your money or spend it however you want. You don’t have to buy anyone else anything, and that’s a big plus. Nothing stopping you from taking yourself out to a nice place.
3. You don’t have to deal with drama.
Relationships can be great, but they can also be a lot of work. Specially when it comes to dealing with friends and or family.
There’s always some sort of drama going on, whether it’s fighting with your significant other or dealing with their family. When you’re single, you don’t have to deal with any of that. You can just focus on yourself and your own life.
4. You can focus on your own happiness.
In a relationship, you often find yourself compromising and sacrificing your own happiness for the sake of your partner. When you’re single, you don’t have to compromise. You can do what makes you happy, without worrying about someone else.
5. You can take some time for yourself.
Being in a relationship means that you’re constantly giving of yourself. You’re always there for your partner, whether they need you or not. When you’re single, you can take some time for yourself. You can focus on your own needs and wants, without worrying about someone else.
6. You don’t have to deal with heartbreak.
One of the worst parts of being in a relationship is dealing with heartbreak. When you’re single, you don’t have to worry about that. You can just enjoy your life and your own company.
7. You can learn more about yourself.
When you’re in a relationship, you often find yourself changing for the sake of the relationship. When you’re single, you can learn more about who you are and what you want in life.
Being single doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy Valentine’s Day. Just give yourself a break, if you don’t have anyone. Remember, you aren’t the only one.
