After The Storm – Poem by Kim Snyder

After The Storm – Poem by Kim Snyder

doors

Trapped behind doors of glass and steel
Windows boarded up
Waiting
Sharing our lives behind screens of glass
Phones flashing
Showing lives we want the world to see,
The need to share, overwhelming
Yet
Behind all that glitz and glamour,
We wait
Trapped in our own minds
Smiles that never reach our eyes
Trapped by what we think or feel
Behind doors of glass and steel
We wait
Minds crack, lives fall apart
Cameras keep on flashing
As we just keep on sharing more and more
Yet emptiness feels so real
We wait
Trapped in our homes
Behind doors of glass and steel
We wait
Alone
Then the day comes when the sun shines again
Clouds clear
Everything feels new again
In the stillness of a new day
We pray it’s over,
to never be, again
Trapped behind doors of glass and steel.
