I miss you my child
This mother wishes I could really see you in person
I can only dream of what you are now
Lost in the memories I have of you
Now you are all grown up and wise
Closing my eyes, I dream of you
Asking you come sit next to me
Tell me stories of places you have been
Even if some of the places maybe
On your list of places yet to go
You always were such a dreamer
You have grown up my child
So tall and wise
I can only wonder if you remember
Me holding you at night
To help rid of the monsters under the bed
Or as you started to walk
Only to fall back into my arms giggling
Come sit my child
So, I can just for a moment
Remember how it felt
To be the most important person in your life
I am not perfect
But what mother is?
Even though you may not remember,
I still remember watching you in wonder
As you see your first butterfly
You were always filled with questions
I know that you are not that child any longer
The years have come and gone so quickly
Till one day you decided it was time
To leave, never looking back
Now I wonder if you will ever come back
The child all grown up and wise
Am I only dreaming you will come home
To see me one more time?
Or have the years become too many?
As your mother I can only hope
I will see you again one day
Before you are standing over my grave
Feeling the pain of what if’s
Wondering if you had let go of the pain
Childish now, hurts that made it easy
To never come home again,
Will you ever come back?
Now before, it became too late?
