Doesn’t matter who you are or how old you are, having glowing skin is a must. Now if only you could get yours to glow, right? Many of us deal with skin that doesn’t look as good as it could.
Dull skin is a common challenge faced by many different age and race groupings, as well as varying nationalities. Recent climate changes are also doing more harm than good to skin all around the world!
Did you know that your skin is constantly replacing itself, sloughing off the old skin cells and replacing them with new cells about every 21 days or so. The older you are, the longer it seems to take for your skin to replace old cells with new, which is why your skin can look old and dull.
The great news is that it’s actually very easy to repair your dull skin.
Follow these steps, so you won’t half to be worried about standing out in a crowd for the wrong reasons:
1. Determine your skin type. Understanding your skin type is important. It can help you determine many things about your skin. Now dry skin is the most common type.
2. Invest in a good skin care regimen. Once you’ve determined your skin type, it’s time to treat it well. Spend the time to identify the right skin products for you. Remember what you use will give different results.
Always use some type of cleanser to remove dirt and oil and makeup. Many probably grew with the idea that soap and water was all you needed to use. Never less, never sleep with your makeup left on, even if you don’t have time at night to remove your makeup, have by your bed makeup remover wipes. They are really good to have when you are just too tired to do anything but go right to bed.
I recommend *eye makeup remover wipes* because you can get them just about anywhere and they are so easy to use.
Second, exfoliate based on your skin type. Many of them have some type of item in them that can be too rough. It comes to knowing your own skin, so be care of which ones you use. Do it at least twice a week if your skin can handle it.
Toners are not for everyone. I tend not to use one but there are those that recommend that you do so next, use toner to decrease the size and appearance of pores.
Then, apply any special serum that you may use. Under the eyes is a common area to target. I love using serums because they help your skin feel better, some soften your skin which helps your dull skin to look better.
Last, apply a moisturizer formulated for your skin type. Many moisturizers now come with sunscreen, so try to get one with that added protection. Sunscreen is one of the best products to use that help your skin look younger longer. It doesn’t the matter of your age you are never too old to start wearing sunscreen.
3. Dehydration is your worse enemy! Stay hydrated. When conscious about the dullness of your skin, water is your friend! Staying hydrated benefits all your cells, including the skin cells.
Did you know that the typical body is 80 percent water? Now you can
understand why your skin can look dull when you aren’t hydrated?
Ensure you drink a glass of water as you get out of bed. End the day with the same regimen before turning in. In between, try to get sips here and there. Eventually aim for 8-10 8 oz. glasses per day.
Although water is the best option, you can also drink low-calorie beverages like flavored water or sugar-free juices. They also add to your overall fluid intake.
4. Next to drinking enough water, sleep is best for helping your skin look better. Get lots of rest. Sure, 8 hours of restful sleep each night is great.
5. Limit sun exposure without sunscreen. Direct exposure to sunlight wreaks havoc on even the best skin texture. From blemishes to widening pores and dullness, the negative effects are alarming.
So there you have it. This is a simple, yet effective way to repair dull skin. All it takes is a little investment in the right products, and a lot of investment in self-care. The effort you put into your skins always matches the results it produces.
Now you can look forward to healthy, glowing skin. But always remember that most of your glow comes from within!
